It is interesting to know how some cloth production can make you feel less sweaty while some can actually give warmth. Likewise, some items of clothing are specifically made to suit the weather. For example, sweaters are for the cold weather and raincoats for the monsoon season.

Perhaps, each clothing line has a purpose. The textile industry is vast and has an endless variety of choices. One can either buy one of the lavish designer dresses for a fashionista look or a simple baggy tee for a casual, classic look.

However, an individual buying an item of clothing is exposed to the wider choices of selecting from the various colours, styles, and the texture of the material.

As mentioned above, we spoke of finished garments. Perhaps, even the raw resources have diversity in the material type and in quality. Each fabric has a unique way of differentiating from the rest. Though, most commonly, it can be classified into either natural substance or synthetic fibres. Hence, clothes are usually knitted or woven using weaving yarns

The canvas cloth

It is a conventional fabric made using either a weighty or liner yarn. They are known for high durability, firm and strong, and have the endurance for heavy-duty. 

Tip- to make a canvas waterproof, blend the synthetic fibre with cotton.


Perhaps the name says it all. It is a wool material type made from Cashmere goats. Thus, this natural fibre is a prominent insulator. Hence, it is said that; Cashmere wool is warmer than sheep’s wool. Besides, it also weighs less and has a delicate finishing. Furthermore, the softness of this material feels like a silky touch to the skin.


Shiny, plain woven and light-weighted is the characteristic of this fabric. The weaving technique for this material creates folds that can cause a rough touch to the skin. More often, the material is made using crepe yarns.


It is the most common and known fibre type. Cotton falls under the category of staple fibre. Hence, meaning, it is differentiated based on the length of fibres. Furthermore, this natural fibre type is made from cotton plantations.

Moreover, the raw cotton material is also, modified into yarns. Hence, these yarns are used to make garments like t-shirts to home essentials like bed linings.
